Bio-Hazard & Water Damage Cleanup
Sewage backups should be considered a biohazard since the water may contain viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that cause serious illnesses. The experts at Rapid Restoration take appropriate precautions as they work to extract the water, thoroughly sanitize and then decontaminate the area.
3 Types of Contaminated Water
Water damage is classified by the three different types of contaminated water. Rapid Restoration will inspect your home to determine the appropriate plan of action for the type of water you are dealing with.
Type 1: Clean Water
This water is from a clean source like a broken water supply line or leaking faucet. If not treated quickly, this water can turn into gray or black water depending on length of time, temperature, and contact with surrounding contaminants.
Type 2: Gray Water
This water is contaminated and could cause discomfort or illness. Examples include washing machine overflow; toilet overflow with some urine, but no feces; or dishwasher overflow. Gray water may contain bacteria and viruses and can quickly degrade into black water if left untreated
Type 3: Black Water
This water is extremely contaminated and could cause severe illness if ingested and contact should be avoided. Examples include river or stream flooding, water from beyond the toilet trap, water from the toilet bowl with feces, and standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.
Water contaminated with sewage backup should be considered an emergency situation and repaired as soon as possible. Contact the experts at Rapid Restoration at (612) 294-0886 for fast, safe, and efficient clean-up services.
